Creating Memories Across Borders

Since 2016, Diyana Halik’s exclusive Travel Series has been an annual tradition, each collection holding a special place in my heart. Our journeys have been filled with cherished memories my children’s first winter, their delight at seeing snow, experiencing a sleeper train, and savoring their first macarons.

As parents, we’ve always strived to spend quality time with our children, working diligently especially my husband to make their school holidays meaningful, whether exploring our homeland or venturing across the globe. Now, with our children grown and studying abroad, coordinating family holidays around their academic schedules has become more challenging. Nonetheless, I am deeply grateful to Allah SWT for the countries we’ve explored together.

   

  

Last December, we spent two weeks with Yana and her family exploring parts of Great Britain. Although we’ve visited London several times, sharing the experience with family and friends brought a new depth, especially knowing we’d return in the summer to settle our daughter, Dwi for her University. And by the looks of it, I’ll be making even more trips in the near future!

Our trip also included a short but memorable sightseeing visit to Oxford, where we admired the stunning architecture, historical colleges, and the timeless charm of this iconic university city. Little did we know that fate would bring us back again, as Dahlia, our youngest, returned to Oxford’s Margaret Hall for her Mastering Leadership program with YouthFuel. Watching her step into such a prestigious space was a proud and surreal moment for us. Allah swt indeed is the BEST planner Alhamdulilah.



Of course, traveling to the UK also meant spending in pounds while converting from MYR, a reality that always hits hard when you glance at your bank account. Let’s just say it’s a humbling reminder to be grateful for all that we’re blessed with, even if my wallet cried a little louder with every swipe!

We visited Edinburgh Castle in Scotland, a first for us and nearly missed our train amidst the bustling Christmas crowds. Perched atop Castle Rock, Edinburgh Castle has stood since at least the 11th century, serving as a royal residence and military stronghold throughout Scotland’s rich history.

Our journey continued to the Cotswolds, where we were enchanted by the picturesque English villages, each exuding timeless charm with their honey-colored stone cottages and scenic landscapes. The children were particularly captivated by the quaint streets and historic architecture, making it a delightful experience for the whole family.




In London, we indulged in the holiday spirit at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland. The children were thrilled by the array of attractions, a must place to visit each time we come back for the winter. Their laughter and excitement made it a memorable highlight of our trip.

   

One of my personal favorite moments was visiting Borough Market, where we enjoyed the freshest oysters. The vibrant energy of the market, combined with the simple pleasure of savoring freshly shucked oysters, made for an unforgettable culinary experience that we’ll always treasure.

It’s become my tradition to immortalize these memories through scarves, sharing my experiences with all my DH ladies. From the iconic red phone booths, Big Ben, and the London Eye, to the charming villages of the Cotswolds, our train journey to Edinburgh, the festive ambiance of Winter Wonderland, and the culinary delights of Borough Market, each scarf tells a story.

I firmly believe that spending quality time with loved ones is invaluable, whether traveling far or enjoying moments close to home. Through this collection, I hope to share my adventures with you, allowing these scarves to be a window into the experiences we’ve cherished.

I thank Allah SWT, the Most Generous and the Only One who provides us with provisions in this world and the hereafter. May Allah SWT grant us rezeki, beneficial knowledge through our travels and al-afiyah, and make all our travels full of barakah. Ameen.
